Isaac Strickler, son of Henry and Elizabeth( Newmyer) Strickler , b. inTyrone Twp. Fayette Co. Nov. 23, 1819;d.Feb 18, 1892. He was a farmer andlived in East Huntingdon Twp. He married Catherine Heath ,b.Oct 10,1817;d.Apr.5, 1896.He is buried in the Scottdale cemetery.

Isaac Strickler, father of Martha B. Strickler (wife of James Bryan), was born November 23, 1819, and died April 5, 1896. age 78, 4mo., and 12 days, and is buried in the Scottdale, Pa. cemetery.

Catherine (nee Heath) Strickler, wife of Isaac, was born in 1818, and died after 1900. She is interred beside her husband in the Scottdale cemetery.

Catherine was a Miss Heath before her marriage to Isaac Strickler, and her mother was a Pegg before she became the wife of Heath, father of Catherine. The Pegg's, as well as possibly the Heath's were of Pennsylvania Dutch extraction, perhaps this extraction would find its source in Holland, Dutch.

Isaac and Catherine were married March 2, 1837, and lived on several farms in the vicinity of Scottdale, finally locating on a large farm near Wesley Chapel, a community church in the Methodist Conference, about four miles from Scottdale, where they lived most of their lives and raised their large family of children.

The names of their children are given below but their dates of birth, and death, of marriage, place of residence, are most incomplete. Their children are omitted. They follow:

JOSIAH STRICKLER who married MARTHA FREED. She was born ca 1839 and d. 1910, d/o Peter Freed (1810-1861) & his wife, Anna Stoner (1813-1878) farmers of Tyrone Twp; Peter Freed was s/o Henry Freed (1779-1863) & Barbara Newcomer 91781-1857) of Bullskin Twp.
Children of Josiah & Martha (Freed) Strickler were:

Sarah and Harriet were twins. Sarah in 1941, is the only surviving member of the Strickler family, but there are many grandchildren and great grandchildren of Isaac and Catherine.

"A descendant of the MOSES VANCE Family, who retained a copy of theiroriginal family bible, states several of theMOSES VANCE descendants were buried in this same cemetery, but no doubttheir stones were destroyed when theRailroad constructed their branch, or they could have been moved elsewhere,but the above two stones remain under agroup of trees.
