Claim of Widow for Pension, under the Provisions of Sections 4736 to 4740 inclusive. Revised Statutes, and the Act of March 9, 1878


State of Pennsylvania
County of Fayette

On this 24 day of April, A.D. one thousand eight hundred and seventy eight personally appeared beore me J. M. Oxxxxx, Prothonotary, the same being a Court of Record within and for the county and State aforesaid, (1) Mary Bryan aged 75 years, a resident of Dawson Sttion in the State of Pennsylvania, who being duly sworn according to law, declares tht she is a widow of (2) James Bryan deceased, who was the identical (3) James Bryan, who served under the name of (4) James Bryan as a (5) private in the company comanded by Captain________ in the war of 1812; that her said husband 96) enlisted at Cumberland MD on or about__________ and continued in actual service in said war for the term of (7) six months and whose services terminated, by reason of (8) Honerable Discharge. She further states that the following is a full description of her said husband at the time of his enlistment, viz: (9) Dark hair, light complexion, height five feet ten and have inches, wagon Maker. She urther states that she was married to the said James Bryan at the city (or town) of Union Town, in the county of Fayette, and in the State of Pennsylvania, on the 8t day of Sept. A.D. 1821, by one (10) Rev. Wm Brownfield, and that her name before her said marriage was Mary Goodge and that she has not remarried since the death of said soldier; and that her said husband (13) Jas Bryan, died at Dawsn Station, in the State of Pennsylvania, on the 11 day of November, A.D. 1868;

She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the pension to which she may be entitled under the provisions of Sections 4736 to 4740 inclusive Revised Statutes, and the Act of March 9, 1878 and hereby constitutes and appoints with full power of substitution and revocation, N.W. Fitzgerald, of Washington, D.C., her true and lawful attorney, to prosecute her claim and she further declares that she has heretofore made no application for (15) Military Bounty Land or warrant got 1855 No 49675 for 80 acres no 2, No 2913 for 80 acres to James Bryan all of which he sold and tht her residence is Dawson Station, County of Fayette, State of Pennsylvania.
